Terps-UVA by Kris L.

On Monday, May 30th I attended the Division One Men’s Lacrosse Championship game between the Maryland Terrapins and Virginia Cavaliers.  It was played at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, MD.  The Terrapins were going for their first national championship since 1975.  At the half the Cavaliers held a 5-3 lead which would become 6-3 early in the 3rd quarter.  However, the Terrapins scored the next three goals to tie the score at six.  At that point the momentum seemed to shift to the Terrapins and the mostly pro Maryland crowd started to make some noise.  Unfortunately for the Terrapins the Cavaliers would score the next three goals to go up 9-6 and basically put the game out of reach.  The Terrapins scored with less than a minute left and made the final score 9-7.  When the scoreboard clock hit 0:00 I just sat in my seat, dejectedly.  Meanwhile, my dad made a bee-line for the exit and my mom followed.  She looked at me and said, “I know.”  Reluctantly, I left my “Let’s Go Terps” sign that was made the day before under my seat and followed them to the car.  Colin Briggs, a player on Virginia’s roster scored five goals.  He had been suspended for the National Semi-Final game that was played on Saturday, May 28th.
