Athletic Budget

Due to a badly suffering athletic budget the University of Maryland is going to have to cut eight varsity sports.  This will bring their total number down to nineteen from twenty seven effective the end of this school year.  In my opinion, this is really a shame because a lot of athletes and coaches are going to be out of jobs/scholarships.  The sports that are going to be cut are: men’s cross country, tennis, swimming and diving, indoor track, and outdoor track.  Women’s sports that will be cut are water polo, acrobatics and tumbling, and swimming and diving.
