Murphy's 14 Laws of Operating a Motor Vehicle
- Whenever your car arrives at a signal light, the light will be red
- Roads are not built to simulate the way the crow flies
- If your vehicle is low on gas then there will not be a gas station nearby
- When you pull into a gas station, that particular gas station will have the most expensive gasoline
- If you commit a traffic violation then a policeman will be present
- If your car is involved in an accident with another motor vehicle then the other motor vehicle will be a large truck
- If your car is involved in an accident with another motor vehicle then your car will suffer more damage than the other vehicle
- Your car will always break down at the worst possible moment
- If you must drive on a particular day then the roads will be treacherous due to the weather
- Traffic will be heaviest on the road that your vehicle is traveling
- You will always choose the route in which the traffic is heaviest
- If you commit two or more traffic violations then you will be charged with the most serious violation
- If you are not the guilty party in an accident then nobody will witness the accident; and through accident recreation, fault will be impossible to determine
- If your car is involved in an accident then you will be at fault
